What not to include in your e-portfolio
Information that you do not want others to see
Do not post any information that you consider too personal. Your e-portfolio rests in a public domain that your
professor, peers and anyone who you give your e-portfolio site or who finds your e-portfolio site, can see and
access.
Shared feedback such as a post on a fellow student’s forum must be done in a respectful manner. The objective
of offering feedback is to be able to help through constructive criticism. Posted observations/comments must
relate directly the course and to the work/experience you are offering feedback on.
***Feedback is never to be about a student. It should strictly be in relation to a student’s work.***
Some information you may NOT wish to include on your e-portfolio site could include:
1.Using both your first and last name
2. Your cell phone number
3. Your personal email address
4. Anything you do not want others to see
Inappropriate content for intended audience
All content posted to your e-portfolio site will be seen. Inappropriate content includes information, imagery,
videos, audio, etc. that does not in some way relate to your course or assignments.
Inappropriate material will be handled in accordance with Montgomery College’s policies. You will be asked to
take down content deemed to be inappropriate.
Posted content that students do not own or posted work created by someone else that is not properly cited
It is never permissible to plagiarize (to claim someone else’s work is your own). If you post a work such as a
paper or picture that was not created by you it you will need to properly cite it or take it down .
You MUST CITE who created the piece and where it was from, if you choose to include another’s work or an
excerpt from an outside source. It is also recommended that you provide context for why you included someone
else’s work or made the reference that you did.
